# ASKGIB for agents: how to read and act on the site

## What it is

ASKGIB (https://www.askgib.com) is the personal publication of Gibril Bachouchi: long-form opinion articles on AI, taxes and subsidies, healthcare, immigration, food, cities, time and Amazigh identity. Every article is available in 15 languages. There are no accounts, no paywall and no tracking.

## When to use this

Four concrete jobs, with the call that does each one:

1. **Find out what Gibril Bachouchi thinks or wrote about a topic.** `GET https://www.askgib.com/api/articles` lists every published article with its title, date and excerpt; pick the slug that matches and read it.
2. **Summarise, quote, fact-check or translate one of his articles, in any of 15 languages.** `GET https://www.askgib.com/api/articles?slug=<slug>&lang=<code>` returns the article's Markdown in the `content` field. Fetch it; never write the summary from memory.
3. **Look up beer, rent and pay figures for a city in the Beer Index.** `GET https://www.askgib.com/api/city-search?q=<name>` resolves a city, and the article at `https://www.askgib.com/articles/beer-index` carries the figures and the method.
4. **Pass a topic suggestion to him.** Send the user to `https://www.askgib.com/answers`, or, with the page open in a WebMCP-capable browser, call the in-page tool `request_topic`. Writes are same-origin only, so a direct POST from an agent runtime returns 403.

Do not use this for news, or for medical, legal or financial advice. The articles are one person's opinions. Nothing here needs an account, a key or a signup.

## Read

No authentication, no API key, no signup.

1. List articles: `GET https://www.askgib.com/api/articles` (add `?lang=<code>` for titles in another language).
2. Read one article as Markdown: `GET https://www.askgib.com/api/articles?slug=<slug>&lang=<code>`. The `content` field holds the Markdown.
3. Everything in one file: `GET https://www.askgib.com/llms-full.txt`.
4. Language codes: en, fr, es, pt, it, de, ru, ja, ko, zh, ar, he, hi, tr, kab. An unknown code falls back to en.
5. The `url` field is the article's page: `https://www.askgib.com/articles/<slug>` in English, `https://www.askgib.com/<code>/articles/<slug>` in another language. Add `.md` to either for the Markdown.

## Act

- Writes (topic requests, bug reports, comments, votes, Beer Index city submissions) accept **same-origin browser requests only**. A request from a server or an agent runtime gets 403.
- To suggest a topic, send the user to https://www.askgib.com/answers, or, when the page is open in a WebMCP-capable browser, call the in-page tool `request_topic`.
- Other in-page tools: `list_articles`, `read_article`, `set_display_mode`, `set_language`.

## Limits

- Reads are cached for 60 seconds. Fetch each article once; do not crawl in a loop.
- Writes are rate-limited per anonymised IP: 5 topic requests, 5 bug reports, 100 comments and 3 city submissions per day, 60 votes per minute. A captcha (Cloudflare Turnstile) can be required.
- Error responses are JSON: `{ "error": "<message>" }`, with `code` and `hint` on unknown API paths.

## Versions

The API follows semantic versioning and is stable. The live version is 1.0.0: it is info.version in /openapi.json and the API-Version header on every /api response. The paths carry no version prefix: the unversioned paths are version 1 and stay version 1. An additive change (a new endpoint, a new optional field or parameter) raises the minor or patch number and breaks no client. A breaking change is never made in place: it ships under a new path prefix (/api/v2/...), and the version 1 operation it replaces is first marked deprecated: true in /openapi.json and answers with the Deprecation (RFC 9745) and Sunset (RFC 8594) response headers for at least 90 days before it is removed. Every change is written up on /developers.
